Week Ahead (1/2)

UK
  • Brexit talks will continue this week (and probably the next few weeks too) after Boris Johnson's meeting with Ursula von der Leyen confirmed that progress had been made but that there was still work to do. There was no mention of Johnson's previous deadline of an agreement by the European Summit of 15 October with talks now expected to drag on to around the end of the month. • We will see the final services PMI print released today (but only small revisions are expected). The main data release of the week comes on Friday with the monthly GDP print and its constituent components for August – index of services, industrial production, construction and trade. There is a broad array of expectations for where the numbers will come in with most economists expecting the monthly GDP print to come in somewhere in the range of 3-6%M/M.
