US TSYS: Weekend news may be providing some light pressure to U.S. Tsy futures
after Xinhua noted that several Chinese firms want to buy U.S. agricultural
products & have applied for exemptions from the tariffs imposed by Beijing.
- However, it is worth flagging that the report also cited Trump's promise to
suspend the imposition of new tariffs on Chinese goods & allow U.S. firms to
sell products to "relevant Chinese companies", in an apparent reference to
telecoms giant Huawei, per SCMP, once again flagging the conditionality inherent
at this stage of the trade talks, which is limiting any real follow through in
markets.
- Senior U.S. administration officials, namely econ advisor Kudlow & Tsy Sec
Mnuchin, are set to meet with U.S. tech firms today. Several source reports have
indicated that the administration wishes to discuss a resumption of sales to
blacklisted Chinese telecoms giant Huawei.
- T-Notes last -0-04+ at 127-12+.
- Eurodollar futures trade 1.5-2.5 ticks lower through the reds on light
volumes.
