West Canada Oil Exports Hit Record with TMX Expansion

Oil exports from Western Canada have risen to an average of 347k b/d in July as the newly expanded Trans Mountain pipeline ramps up shipments, according to Bloomberg

  • Total outflows were 10.76m bbl, compared to 9.23m bbl in June.
  • Shipments to the US West Coast were 240k b/d, compared to 78k b/d in June.
  • Shipments to Asia were 107k b/d compared to 196k b/d in June.
  • The Trans Mountain pipeline which moves crude from Alberta to the Pacific coast was expanded from 300k b/d to 890k b/d and became operations with expanded capacity from May.
