ENERGY
  • The Insights Global European ARA product inventories will be released today, a day delayed due to the Ascension Day holiday yesterday. Gasoil stocks surged higher last week up to 2.488m mt. The 5-year average for this time of year is 2.19m mt. ARA Gasoline stocks are also up at the top of the five year range at 1.427m mt compared to the five year average of 1.15m mt for this time of year.
  • G7 leaders meet in Hiroshima 19-21 May with energy and climate among the issues to be discussed.
  • The latest Baker Hughes rig count data is due for release at 13:00ET. The data last week showed an unexpected big fall in gas rigs down to 141 and the lowest since April 2022. The oil rig count edged lower down to 586 to the lowest since June 2022.
  • The ICE and Nymex commitments of traders reports are due for release after the close today at 18:30BST and 15:30EST. Crude oil managed money net long positions fell to a six week low last week while diesel managed money positions maintained a net short.
