  • Also out at 1000ET: Construction Spending MoM (0.6% est) and JOLTS Job Openings (9.600M est). Dallas Fed Services Activity follows at 1030ET.
  • Fed speak: Chicago Fed Goolsbee makes welcome remarks at a Chicago Fed event: Business Smart Week
  • Treasury auction: $50B 42D CMB auction at 1130ET.
  • Heavy slate of equity earnings continues: Caterpillar, Merck, Marathon Petroleum, Uber, Altria already out and beating estimates. After the close: AIG, Allstate, Devon Energy, AMD, Starbucks, Virgin Galactic, Electronic Arts.
  • Look ahead: ADP private employment (190k est) tomorrow at 0815ET while the Treasury’s Quarterly Refunding will be released at 0830ET.
  • The Tsy released it's current estimates of privately-held net marketable borrowing for the Jul-Sep '23 and Oct-Dec '23: During the Jul–Sep'23 quarter late Mon: "Treasury expects to borrow $1.007T in privately-held net marketable debt, assuming an end-of-September cash balance of $650B ...$274B higher than announced in May 2023, primarily due to the lower beginning-of-quarter cash balance ($148B) and higher end-of-quarter cash balance ($50B), as well as projections of lower receipts and higher outlays ($83B)."
