What to Watch: US Payrolls, Rig Counts & COT

ENERGY
  • The latest Baker Hughes rig count data is due for release at 13:00ET. The US oil rig count was last week at 499 after holding between 494 and 505 since September. The gas rig count was steady at 119.
  • The ICE and Nymex commitments of traders reports are due for release after the close today at 18:30GMT and 15:30ET. Crude managed money net long positions increased last week to the highest since the end of October despite a drop in Brent positions from a high the previous week. ICE Gasoil net long positions increased to the highest since November
  • US nonfarm payrolls are due for release at 08:30 ET and expected to rise 185k with the unemployment rate rising 0.1pp to 3.8%.
