Wilhelmshaven LNG May Start This Year

LNG
The floating LNG terminal at Wilhelshaven in Germany may start this year according to Uniper CCO Niek Den Hollander.
  • The terminal is due to start during the coming Winter 22 season and commissioning could start “possibly this year still.” The project can delivery up to 7.5bcm per year which is approximately 8.5% of Germany’s gas requirements per year.
  • The terminal is one of five new floating terminals to be installed by Germany as they attempt to secure future gas supplies.
  • Five new floating LNG terminals are planned at sites at Stade, Wilhelmshaven, Brunsbuettel and Lubmin. They will each be capable of importing at least 5bcm of gas per year. The terminal at Brunsbuettel is also aiming to supply gas in late 2022 or early 2023.
