Wilhelmshaven LNG Terminal To Receive Freeport Cargo

LNG

Germany is set to receive its first LNG shipments from Freeport LNG at its Wilhelmshaven terminal, ship-tracking data on Bloomberg show.

  • Uniper’s LNG Rosenrot vessel loaded the cargo at Freeport on 14 Feb and is set to bring it to the Wilhelmshaven import terminal on 3 Mar.
  • Freeport LNG earlier this month was allowed to resume some shipping operations of fuel from storage tanks. It has since also requested the federal regulators to approve a full commercial restart for Phase 1 of the project, which, once granted, would also allow it to produce new LNG and ship it.
  • Freeport LNG has so far dispatched four vessels, ship-tracking data compiled by Bloomberg show. The first export appears to be headed for Asia via the Suez Canal, and another one is headed to Panama, ship-tracking data show.
  • The terminal gradually resuming shipments after numerous delays is a relief for traders who were forced to source missing cargoes elsewhere while Freeport was shut.
