POLAND
  • Poland's Finance Minister Magdalena Rzeczkowska told Radio Zet that the government is still conducting analytical work on the proposed windfall tax on the energy industry. The levy could be proposed in the coming weeks and will take into account investment plans of state companies. The official added that the suspension of VAT on food will likely be extended beyond June, but the final decision will be taken in April.
  • Leaders of smaller opposition parties played down potential for contesting the upcoming election as a single bloc, a solution advocated by the main opposition Civic Platform. Head of the agrarian PSL party argued that "by forming a single list, we are weakening our wings," while New Left's leader admitted that "everything suggests" that there will be no common list.
