POLAND: Wnorowski Backs Up View for Rate Cut Talks to Begin in March

- NBP's Wnorowski outlined that markets should not expect very significant changes in rates policy for next year, when taking loose fiscal policy into account. He sees a "very serious" discussion on rate cuts from the March meeting onwards, at which the NBP will be aided by fresh inflation projections.
- In two days time, Poland will take over the EU Presidency from Hungary. While it's broadly a ceremonial role, AFP sources report EU diplomats are relieved, with Poland expected to pursue a more conciliatory approach, after Hungary targeted an approach that included talks with Russian President Putin.
- The Polish energy sector is expected to pick up electrical energy exports to Ukraine in the event that Slovakia cuts off supply to Ukraine, according to a senior official. The Slovakian PM Fico had warned that Slovakia could cut off supply to Kyiv if needed.
