Wnorowski Not Satisfied With Pace Of Disinflation, Flags Elevated Inflation Expectations

NBP's Henryk Wnorowski told a parliamentary committee that he is not satisfied with the "current level of inflation or the level of disinflation," adding that the key factor behind inflation in mid-2023 are inflationary expectations, PAP newswire reports.

  • Wnorowski said that "the main factor driving inflation expectations, which are too high relative to fundamentals, are irresponsible comments from politicians and irresponsible media coverage."
  • The official has been supportive of interest-rate stability promoted by the dovish-leaning majority in the MPC led by Governor Adam Glapinski. However, he is seen as the most moderate policymaker in the dovish camp.
