Workers At MMG's Mine Begin Indefinite Strike Over Bonuses

  • Workers at MMG’s Las Bambas copper mine in Peru began an indefinite strike on Tuesday, union leader Erick Ramos says in text messages. More than 400 members of the SUTEMLB union are participating in protests at the mine site and in nearby towns, all pushing for payment of bonuses tied to profits.
  • President Dina Boluarte rejected a constitutional complaint against her and members of her cabinet filed before congress by Prosecutor General Patricia Benavides. Boluarte said in a webcast message the complaint seeks to distract from a corruption complaint against the Prosecutor General herself by the judicial branch. (BBG)
