Workers Party Voice Support For New Fiscal Framework

BRAZIL
  • Lawmakers from the Workers Party in the lower house are expected to release a statement in support of the proposed new fiscal framework, Zeca Dirceu, leader of the party in the house, said in an interview on Wednesday.
  • Reports suggest that the party lawmakers met earlier today for four hours, following an explanation of the proposal from finance minister Haddad on Tuesday.
  • Lawmakers reportedly voiced concern that the new fiscal rules would bring a sharp reduction in public investments, however, the issue was said to be resolved during the meeting.
    • Dirceu stated “there is no disagreement, there is no distrust”.
  • Lawmakers may present amendments to the bill depending on changes proposed by the opposition. (BBG)
