WTI Open Interest Rises from Dip in Early Nov

WTI crude futures aggregate open interest has risen this week up to 1.65m to reverse some of the decline seen in the first half of November. Open interest fell to the lowest since Jan to just below 1.55m on Nov 21.

  • Brent aggregate open interest is holding relatively steady and largely unchanged on the month at 2.085m yesterday. Brent aggregate traded futures volumes were yesterday the highest since Sep 27 up at 1.64m while WTI volumes were up to 1.37m.
  • ICE Gasoil futures open interest has edged higher during the month up from 0.611m to 0.638m after a drop in early November.
  • Nymex RBOB gasoline futures open interest has drifted back from a recent high last week to 0.336m. Traded volumes on ICE Gasoil at 294k and Nymex RBOB at 156k were yesterday approximately in line with normal levels.
