Year-End Inflation Expectations Little Changed in October Survey

  • The central bank released the results of the October survey of market participants:
    • Year-end inflation expectations: 68.01% (Prior: 67.22%)
    • 12-month inflation expectations: 45.28% (Prior: 44.94%)
    • 24-month inflation expectations: 25.82% (Prior: 23.87%)
  • As the negative trend in the Borsa Istanbul benchmark equity index continues, investors are wondering whether Q3 results will bolster the market, Dunya report. Strong balance sheets are anticipated in aviation, automotive, cement, food & beverage, retail, and energy industries. The index is down ~9% from all-time highs earlier this month.
  • Finance minister Simsek says he’ll visit the gulf nations next week. The visit was expected following his recent trips to London and Paris.
  • There are no major economic releases on the docket for the remainder of the day.
