Can Macklem Break The USDCAD Bullish Theme?

CANADA
  • USDCAD continues to climb higher, +0.4% at 1.2763, despite Canadian front-end rates/yields falling by less than those in the US although it does help CAD outperform other risk sensitive currencies.
  • Building on the sharp increases from late last week, the pair next eyes resistance at 1.2783 (76.4% of the Mar 8 – Apr 5 bear leg).
  • With OIS pricing a ~55bp hike in June, it could take a particularly hawkish Macklem to break the short-term bullish theme.
