Ammunition Depot In Belgogrod Catches Fire, Loud Explosions Heard

Russian state media report that an ammunition depot in the village of Staraya Nelidovka, Belgogrod region has caught fire, citing Telegram posts from regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov. The reports mention that loud blasts were heard in early morning hours.

  • The Belgogrod region is located on Russia's border with Ukraine. Earlier this week, Gladkov claimed that a couple of villages in the region were shelled.
  • The fire could represent Ukraine's attempts to take war activities beyond enemy lines, with speculation to that effect fuelled by recent fires in several critical facilities located on the Russian territory.
