FED: (1/2) Vice Chair Clarida (voter, dove) has speaking on BBG and sounds like
he's happy with a pause in cuts for now.
- Largely repeating Powell talking points from Wednesday but discusses risks
still being to downside, today's jobs/wage numbers, optimistic assessment of
trend growth, and where we are in the cycle (hint, not at the end):
- 'We've done the adjustment'... Am 'very happy' where we are now with the
stance of monetary policy. I'm an optimist. Objectively, the economy is in a
good place. Favourable outlook for the economy.
- Economy resilient, 'these are good numbers' (re GDP, payrolls).
- For most of year risks tilted toward downside due to global forces; we think
mon pol and economy in a good place. Risks still tilted to downside 'somewhat'.
- We will be data-dependent, but our baseline is that our policy is in a good
place. Every meeting is a live meeting.
