MNI BRIEF: US Budget Deficit $367B In Nov; FYTD Record $624B

MNI (WASHINGTON) - The U.S. government posted a USD366.8 billion budget deficit in November and has rang up a deficit of USD624.2 billion in the first two months of the fiscal year, the Treasury Department reported Wednesday. 

November's deficit was up 17% compared to the same month last year, while the fiscal year to date balance -- a record -- was up 64% compared to the same point last year, the data showed. Receipts so far this year are down 7%, while outlays are up 18%. The Treasury paid USD169 billion for interest on the public debt in the first two months of the year, the same as last year.
