200% Tariff On Imports From Russia-White House

The US gov't has confirmed that a 200% tariff will be imposed from on Russian aluminium products March 10, expanding to any products using Russian primary aluminium from April 10.

• Statement reads: "...have determined that it is necessary and appropriate to impose: Beginning on March 10, 2023, a 200 percent ad valorem tariff on aluminium articles that are the product of Russia and derivative aluminum articles that are the product of Russia; and beginning on April 10, 2023, a 200 percent ad valorem tariff on aluminium articles where any amount of primary aluminium used in the manufacture of the aluminium articles is smelted in Russia, or the aluminium articles are cast in Russia, and derivative aluminum articles where any amount of primary aluminum used in the manufacture of the derivative aluminium articles is smelted in Russia, or the derivative aluminium articles are cast in Russia.'
• Russian imports currently account for around 10% of total US imports of the metal.
