  • Former BOTAS General Manager Gokhan Yardim said the current natural gas problem stems from the supply-demand imbalance and due to insufficient preparations beforehand.
    • Yardim said only eight days of gas reserves left in Turkey’s Salt Lake field, where a significant part of Turkey’s gas reserves are stored
  • Many shopping malls, which had previously met the ministry to increase legal limits of rent hike, started to cross the legal limit.
    • Sector representatives say many prominent shopping malls have increased rents above the annual CPI average.
    • Brand representatives asked Shopping Malls Association to publish a letter of recommendation for the problem of rent in foreign currency
  • Government sources say Turkey’s diplomacy priority is normalization with regional rivals in 2022, including Israel, Armenia and the gulf states with Turkey’s internal problems also dependent on its diplomatic performance.
    • The expectation is for a reciprocal appointment of Ambassadors in Israel as the next step, while normalization with Egypt will take longer.
