A$ Continues To Weaken, Holding Up Against Kiwi

Aussie is generally moderately lower today but has made some gains against kiwi. AUDUSD fell to 0.6632 earlier but rebounded when the US dollar turned down following a little changed CNY fixing. AUDUSD rose to 0.6646 but has now eased to around 0.6636 to be down 0.1%. The USD index is down 0.1%.

  • AUDJPY is down another 0.4% to 103.93 during APAC trading after falling 1% yesterday. It fell to 103.88 earlier today. AUDEUR is down 0.1% to 0.6093 after a low of 0.6091. AUDGBP is slightly lower at 0.5133.
  • AUDNZD is 0.1% higher though at 1.1117, as rate expectations continue to diverge, but is off the intraday high of 1.1125.
  • Equities are mixed with the ASX up 0.7% but the CSI 300 down 0.8%. The S&P e-mini is 0.1% lower. Oil prices are moderately higher with WTI up 0.1% to $78.46/bbl. Copper is slightly lower and iron ore is down to around $101.50/t.
  • Later the quiet week continues with only the ECB’s Lane speaking and US July Philly & Richmond Fed indices, and June existing home sales released.
