A couple of interesting developments in UK.......>

UK
UK: A couple of interesting developments in UK politics today.
- First we will learn whether the Grieve amendment has been selected by the
Speaker. This is an amendement to the Northern Ireland bill which would keep
parliament in session and stop the next prime minister proroguing parliament in
order to push through a no deal Brexit.
- We would expect that the Speaker does select this amendment and if so the vote
will likely be held around 7pm BST.
- Another wrinkle in this development is that the Johnson-Hunt debate is due to
be held at ITV's MediaCity studios in Manchester, beginning at 8pm BST.
- With Manchester at least a couple of hours away from London, Johnson and Hunt
the logistics of being in London and getting to the debate in Manchester on time
are very difficult. The future PM would therefore likely have to choose between
voting in the House or participating in the debate (unless the time of the
debate was delayed or the location moved).
- Labour are still due to formally announce their new position on Brexit. If
they took a position today, it could complicate the voting arithmetic further.
