ASIA
ASIA: A limited regional docket in play today, although that doesn't detract
from a couple of key events:
- China will published it's reformed Loan Prime Rate (LPR) for the first time
today (at 02:30 BST).
- The RBA will release the minutes from its most recent MonPol decision, which
saw it leave the cash rate unchanged after back to back 25bp cuts. It is hard to
see the RBA broaching any new territory, given that we have seen the release of
the latest RBA SoMP & heard from Governor Lowe in an extensive testimony in the
time since the decision. To refresh, the concluding paragraph of the Bank's
statement accompanying the decision noted that "it is reasonable to expect that
an extended period of low interest rates will be required in Australia to make
progress in reducing unemployment and achieve more assured progress towards the
inflation target. The Board will continue to monitor developments in the labour
market closely and ease monetary policy further if needed to support sustainable
growth in the economy and the achievement of the inflation target over time."
