A Modest Bid For Core FI Early On

BONDS

Core FI markets have caught a modest (in comparison with Thursday’s sell off) bid in early Asia-Pac trade. The combination of regional demand and the seeming continuation on the part of ECB President Lagarde re: the watering down of rate hike expectations (based on the Bank’s current economic assumptions) are seemingly supporting the space early on. Also note that the initial round of comments from Fed’s Barkin (’24 voter, hawk) haven’t been overtly hawkish. A quick reminder that the observation of a holiday in Japan means that the Japanese markets are closed on Friday, while U.S. cash Tsys are closed until London hours on the back of the same holiday.
