STOCKS
STOCKS: A much more sedate session for Asia-Pacific equities today.
- The Nikkei 225 has returned from a holiday hiatus, so is digesting news flow
from the last 6 trading sessions. Chinese equities have reversed a small portion
of yesterdays Trump inspired losses, while Australian stocks have benefitted
from the recovery of U.S. equity indices during NY cash trade (with one eye on
the upcoming RBA MonPol decision), though the latest round of trade related
comments from Messrs Mnuchin & Lighthizer limited the rebound.
- Nikkei 225 -0.8%, Hang Seng +0.5%, CSI 300 +0.9%, ASX 200 +0.8%.
- U.S. equity index futures were dented by the aforementioned hawkish trade
comments from Lighthizer & Mnuchin.
- S&P 500 futures -15, DJIA futures -121, NASDAQ 100 futures -42.
