GILT SUMMARY: After a strong open to the day, gilts have stabilised over the
past hour and a half. Gilts have been propelled higher in sympathy with other
core global bond markets.
- The news over the weekend that the police were called to Boris Johnson's
girlfriend's flat due to reports of an argument have not made much difference to
odds of who will be the next Prime Minister.
- Johnson and Hunt were due to be taking part in a debate on Sky News tonight
but Johnson has pulled out, with members of the Hunt camp calling him a coward.
- Politics is likely to remain centre stage this week with only second tier data
alongside the final print of Q1 GDP due for release.
- Gilt futures are up 0.51 today at 130.69.
- 2y yields down -3.3bp today at 0.571%
- 5y yields down -3.5bp today at 0.594%
- 10y yields down -3.9bp today at 0.805%
- 30y yields down -3.1bp today at 1.416%
