Al Jazeera Appears To Retract Report Of Ceasefire Agreement

Bloomberg reports that Al Jazeera has deleted a tweet, "saying Israel agrees to pause in fighting." A report which was widely circulated and prompted moves in oil markets. See earlier bullet.

  • The retraction came after, several key journalists expressed sceptism over the report, which appeared to come from a press conference in Qatar.
  • Roi Kais at Kan writes on X: "Regarding the words of the spokesman of the Qatari Foreign Ministry, Majed Al-Ansari, that there is a "preliminary positive confirmation" from Hamas regarding the deal, I would take it with a very limited guarantee, for now."
  • White House National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby is shortly due to brief the press aboard Air Force One and will likely provide an update on the status of talks. LIVESTREAM
