Algeria Struggles to Stay on Track for Gas Export Boost: MEES

Piped Algeria-Italy volumes fell in H1 2024 with deliveries via the 33.5 bcm/y TransMed pipeline at 10.74 bcm, the lowest H1 figure since 2020, MEES said.

  • Algeria has an ambitious plan to raise gas exports from 52 bcm in 2023 to 100 bcm in the medium-term.
  • A landmark deal with Italy pledged a 9 bcm/y boost in piped deliveries to Algeria’s key customer to 30 bcm for 2024.
