  • The African National Congress (ANC) will update the media today on the upcoming celebrations of its 113th anniversary. President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to deliver the Party's January 8th Statement, mapping out the key tasks and activities for the year ahead, this Saturday. This will be Ramaphosa's first such speech since the formation of the government of national unity (GNU) in the aftermath of last year's election.
  • Bloomberg Economics wrote that in their view "lower-than-anticipated inflation gives the South African Reserve Bank room to cut rates by 50bp to 7.25% by Marchh, close to the neutral rate. It will then pause."
  • S&P Global will release the latest PMI reading for the South African economy shortly.
