April Current Account, FDI Data Expected At 1230BST / 0730ET
BRAZIL
- April current account and FDI figures will be released at 1230BST(0730ET). Analysts expect the current account deficit to narrow to $1.4bn, from $4.579bn, while FDI inflows come in at $5.0bn (vs. $9.591bn prior). May consumer confidence data are also due to be released shortly.
- Meanwhile, President Lula will attend an event about public works at areas impacted by the floods at 1530BST. BCB President Campos Neto will attend an event held by the FGV IBRE Center for Monetary Studies from 1600BST and will give a lecture there at 1800BST.
- In other news, Brazil and China are calling for an international peace conference recognised by both Russia and Ukraine to discuss proposals to deescalate the war. Following a meeting on Thursday between China’s Foreign Affairs Meeting Wang Yi and Brazil’s Celso Amorim, chief adviser to President Lula, both countries issued a statement outlining “common understandings” on a path to resolving the Russia-Ukraine crisis.
