US DATA
US DATA: April Personal Income and PCE Preview - 08:30 EDT/13:30 BST
---------------------------------------------------------------
- Personal income is expected to rise by 0.3% in April based on both the
Bloomberg consensus and MNI survey following a 0.1% gain in March. Stronger
payrolls growth and another 0.2% hourly earnings gain should offset a slightly
shorter workweek.
- Nominal PCE is expected to rise by 0.3% by BBG and by 0.2% by MNI after a 0.9%
surge in the previous month, as the retail sales data, including the control
group, were significantly weaker in April.
- The core price index is expected to rise by 0.2% after a flat March reading
(after rounding). The year/year rate is likely to remain at 1.6% given a similar
monthly gain a year ago, further adding to concerns that inflation growth is too
slow.
