Asia Bound LNG Tanker Seen Diverting to Europe: ICIS

LNG

The Shaolin LNG tanker looks to be diverting to Europe away from an earlier course to Asia, according to ICIS analyst Alex Froley via LinkedIn.

  • This follows a surge in European LNG prices following the recent fighting near the Sudzha interconnector terminal in Russia’s Kursk region.
  • While no disruption to pipeline flows into the region has taken place, fighting in the vicinity of the station will stoke concerns of additional supply issues into Europe, likely driving more buyers to look to secure LNG cargoes to avoid being short.
  • Ample spare regasification capacity at present will also help encourage a move to LNG if supply fears rise further.
