STOCKS: Asia-Pacific equities trade mixed at the start of the week.
- Japanese equity indices benefitted from the lack of escalation re: trade
matters between the U.S. & Japan, although an imminent deal is not in the
offing. U.S. President Trump noted that such a deal will have to wait until
after the country's July elections, despite "great progress" being made.
- Chinese equities struggled, with worries over the health of the financial
sector after the PBoC was forced to inject capital into a small bank on Friday.
Soft industrial profits data also weighed.
- The ASX 200 trades around unchanged levels at writing.
- U.S. equity index futures have edged lower.
- Nikkei 225 +0.3%, Hang Seng -0.8%, CSI 300 -0.8%, ASX 200 unch.
- S&P 500 futures -4, DJIA futures -17, NASDAQ 100 -19
