STOCKS: Asian equities are little changed on the day following the FOMC
decision. While the Fed delivered the anticipated 25bps policy rate cut, Chair
Powell's relatively optimistic take on the US-China trade war struck a hawkish
tone and signalled the likely end of the mid-cycle adjustment.
- The Hang Seng and Sensex are marginally higher, while the Shanghai Composite
posted modest losses.
- The BoJ left the policy balance rate and 10-year yield target unchanged at
-0.10% and 0.00%, respectively. However, the timeframe for forward guidance was
dropped and Governor Kuroda indicated that Japan has more scope than Europe to
push rates further negative. The Nikkei traded up 0.37% during the session.
