AUSSIE-KIWI
AUSSIE-KIWI: AUD/NZD was last seen at NZ$1.0408, a touch lower on the day, as
both sides of the pair draw support from optimism re: Sino-U.S. relations,
following WSJ & BBG reports suggesting that Washington and Beijing are close to
signing a deal ending their current trade war.
- The rate fell 11 pips Friday, as NZD was buoyed by strong domestic building
permits figure released in the NY/Asia crossover. Worth mentioning both
Antipodean cousins benefitted from a strong Chinese Caixin m'fing PMI print,
with AUD/NZD adding a handful of pips, before easing off.
- Bears look for a clean break below the psychological NZ$1.0400 figure, which
would allow them to target the Feb 14 low of NZ$1.0369. Conversely, bulls need
to clear NZ$1.0329, where the rate peaked Friday, before challenging the 21-DMA,
situated at NZ$1.0445.
