AUSSIE
AUSSIE: AUD/USD last seen at $0.7124, unchanged on the day, after the pair
closed 47 pips lower Thursday, exactly erasing Wednesday's gains. The Aussie was
the worst G10 performer, as the combination of weaker commodity complex and
solid economic data from the U.S. weighed on the rate.
- On Thursday, Australian PM Morrison called the federal election for May 18.
- The rate returned below its 100-DMA at $0.7140 after Wednesday saw it close
above that level for the first time since mid-Feb. A further slide through the
50-DMA/21-DMA at $0.7111/05 and below $0.7100 would suggest another false break,
giving bears the upper hand. Meanwhile, bulls look to the aforementioned
100-DMA, ahead of $0.7172, where the rate peaked on Thursday.
- RBA Financial Stability Review and Chinese trade balance data provide the
points of interest today.
