AUSTRALIA: RBA The Highlight In A Quiet Week

AUSTRALIA

It is a quiet week in Australia with RBA events the highlight. The minutes are released and there are a number of speakers.

  • The November meeting minutes are published on Tuesday. The Board’s hawkish hold was maintained at this meeting and forecasts were little changed. The discussion was again focussed on what would be needed to make the RBA shift rates in either direction, as was the case in September.
  • RBA Assistant Governor (Financial Market) Kent speaks at 1730 AEDT on Monday at the Sir Leslie Melville Lecture in Canberra. The address aims to contemplate economics in the public sphere.
  • Governor Bullock speaks on Thursday at 1900 AEDT at the Women in Payments Conference.
  • On Wednesday the Westpac leading index for October prints. The 6-month annualised change has been hovering just under zero for almost a year.
  • Preliminary November Judo Bank PMIs are out on Friday. Services continue to outperform manufacturing leaving the composite only slightly above neutral.
