Axios: Israel Says No More Talks Until Hamas Provides Hostage Details

Barack Ravid at Axios reporting on X that, according to a senior Israeli official, Israel has told Egypt and Qatar that it will not hold another round of hostage/ceasefire] talks until Hamas, "presents a list of Israeli abductees who are alive and provides details on Palestinian prisoners to be released as part of the deal.

  • Ravid: "Senior Israeli officials said that after three days of talks in Qatar, the Israeli delegation returned to Israel last night without answers. "The mediators promised that Hamas would give numbers and that didn't happen," said an Israeli official"
  • Ravid: "Egyptian intelligence officials contacted Israel in the last day and offered to hold another round of talks in Cairo next week. A senior Israeli noted that Israel refused the offer and made it clear that until it receives answers from Hamas it will be impossible to move forward in the negotiations."
  • The comments cast more doubt on a ceasefire agreement being reached before the month of Ramadan begins on March 10.
  • Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum in Turkey today: "I can say that we have reached a point of understanding, we will still exert every effort with our brothers in Qatar and the U.S. and others close to the negotiations... Everyone recognizes that we have a time limit to be successful before the start of Ramadan."
