Azerbaijan’s Natural Gas Exports Jan-Nov Up 9% on Year

Azerbaijan exported 22.06 bcm of natural gas in the first 11 months of 2023, up 9% on the year, according to a statement by Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov on X, cited by Bloomberg.

  • Europe was the largest buyer of Azeri gas, taking 10.85 bcm, up from 10.3 bcm on the year according to Bloomberg calculations.
  • President Ilham Aliyev said that the country is on track to export a total of 12 bcm to Europe in 2023 and double exports from 2021 levels by 2027.
  • Azerbaijan supplied 8.7 bcm to Turkey, compared to 7.6 bcm from Jan-Nov 2022.
  • The country also pumped 44 bcm of gas between Jan-Nov, up 3.6% on the year.
