Baht Little Changed, Tuesday's CPI Data Eyed

Spot USD/THB trades at THB33.465, little changed on the day. Bullish focus remains on THB33.802, which capped gains on Mar 28. On the flip side, a retreat under Mar 31 low/100-DMA at THB33.195/33.162 would bring Mar 10 low of THB33.000 into play.

  • Thailand's CPI data for the month of March will be out tomorrow, with consensus forecast pointing to a faster pace of inflation. Headline CPI growth printed at +5.28% Y/Y in March, comfortably above the upper bound of the BoT's target range, with ongoing war in Ukraine raising the prospect of further increase in living costs.
  • Worth noting that BoT Gov Sethaput will speak at a seminar to mark the central bank's 80th anniversary today. Elsewhere, PM Prayuth will deliver remarks on the "new normal".
