Bank of Russia to Release Report on Banking Sector

  • Measures to implement the agreements reached at the Russian-North Korean summit in the Far East in September have already been launched, Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov said at a meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un as per Interfax. In November, Pyongyang is expected to host the 10th meeting of the two countries' intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation, Lavrov said.
  • President Putin travelled to the headquarters of Russia’s Southern Military District near the border with Ukraine following his return from talks with Chinese leader Xi Jinping in Beijing, where he was briefed about the situation in Ukraine. Putin told reporters he’d discussed Russia’s war in Ukraine with Xi in detail during bilateral talks. He also announced he’d ordered MiG-31 fighter jets to begin round-the-clock patrols over the Black Sea.
  • Russia’s crude oil supplies to China rose by 24.4% in January-September 2023 year-on-year to 79.9mln tons, according to figures released by the General Administration of Customs of China that were cited by TASS.
  • Putin may hold a weekly security council meeting today, according to Bloomberg. The Bank of Russia publishes a paper on banking sector development and will report the weekly changes in its monetary base.
