BanRep Minutes, May Exports Expected Today

COLOMBIA
  • BanRep will publish the minutes to its June 28 monetary policy meeting, when it cut by another 50bp to 11.25%, at 2300BST(1800ET). Goldman Sachs expects the minutes to echo the central bank’s prudent approach to cutting, with focus on discussions around stronger-than-expected activity, potential bumps in the disinflation process ahead and still high core services inflation. Given the split in the Board, attention will also be on discussions around the conditions needed to support an acceleration in the easing pace in the near-term.

  • Meanwhile, export data for May will be released at 1600BST(1100ET), with analysts expecting a figure of $4.31bn, vs. $4.41bn prior.
  • In other news, newly appointed Interior Minister Juan Fernando Cristo said yesterday that the government will start discussions with different sectors of society to reach a deal and call for a national constituent assembly.
