US DATA REACT: Barclays economist Blerina Uruci said US home prices maintained
"momentum in September." She added that the S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller 20-city
Home Price Index "rose by 0.52% m/m in September, coming in a touch below our
expectations (0.6%) and stronger than consensus expectations (0.3%)."
- She noted "the annual rate of price appreciation moved higher to 6.2%, and
three-month annualized growth improved to 5.5% (from 3.8%) and that the tight
inventory situation, especially among existing units, is exerting upward
pressure on home prices."
- She pointed out that in all, "the annual pace of home price appreciation has
held steady within the 5-6% range seen over the past year and is in line with
our view of a modest and steady improvement in the housing sector this year."
