RBNZ: BBG runs an interview with RBNZ Asst. Governor Hawkesby:
- Points to no need to adjust the central bank's stimulus package after the
release of the government's budget last week, noting that the fiscal stimulus
package outlined by the government is in the same ball park as the Bank assumed.
As a result, he noted that the Bank may not need to increase the size of its QE
program, but pointed to a need for a nimble and open minded approach to stimulus
measures.
- Hawkesby reiterated that the Bank is willing to use all of the available
tools, including purchasing foreign bonds, while he also pointed to the Bank's
latest economic projections, which looked for a lower NZD.
