BCCH Traders Survey & Activity Data Due, Lithium Report

  • Chile, the second-biggest supplier of lithium, expects to lose more market share to Australia and Argentina over the next decade, knocking it down to third in global output rankings. State agency Cochilco sees Chilean output of the key ingredient in electric-car batteries doubling to 336,000 metric tons by 2035, while Argentina surges to 415,000 tons, according to a report released Tuesday.
  • As well as the Central Bank’s traders survey which is scheduled to be released at 1330BST/0830ET, there is a host of production/activity data on the docket. These releases precede tomorrow’s economic activity (Imacec) reading.
    • April manufacturing output; est. -3.1%; previous -5.5%
    • April industrial production; est. -2.1%; previous -5.9%
    • April copper output; previous 440,389 tons
    • April retail sales; est. -9.1%; previous -8.4%
