BI Intervenes After IDR Weakens

The rupiah declined to its lowest levels in three weeks after the Bank of Indonesia cut rates and downgraded growth estimates.

  • Hariyadi Ramelan, executive director for monetary management at Bank Indonesia, had said the bank is intervening in FX spot interbank, domestic non-deliverable forwards and bond markets to stabilize the rupiah.
