Biden Delivering Remarks On "Bidenomics"

President Biden is now delivering the first speech of his “Bidenomics” tour in South Carolina where he will announce a USD$60 million investment from Enphase Energy, a manufacturer of solar-energy equipment.

• According to the White House, the investment will create 1,800 new jobs across the US, including 600 jobs in South Carolina.
• The White House is gambling that Biden and his cabinet can convince voters that large scale, state-led, investment in manufacturing and infrastructure is making a material difference to regional economies.
• Bloomberg notes, “Biden has argued that [legislation like CHIPS, the Inflation Reduction Act, and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Act] will bring deep and lasting changes to the American economy, yet despite a boom in factory construction, many of those facilities won’t come online for years — a challenge for a president whose economic record will be central to his reelection prospects.”
• White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters yesterday: “Bidenomics is unleashing huge private-sector investments in manufacturing, with businesses investing more than $490 billion in manufacturing and clean energy since the President took office -- including more than $11 billion in South Carolina…”
