US

The approval rating of President Biden continues to falter as the wait continues for a formal declaration of Biden's intention to run for re-election in 2024.

  • According to RealClearPolitics, Biden's aggregated approval currently sits at 42.6%, down from 44.8% on April 25.
  • Biden was widely expected to announce his bid for a second term shortly after consultations with his family during the the winter Congressional recess.
  • AP reports: "...an announcement isn’t imminent even now, aides insist, and probably won’t come until at least after Biden returns from an expected trip to Ireland in mid-April."
  • Axios writes that, "Biden's waiting game has left many ambitious Democrats and would-be staffers with their 2024 plans on hold," suggesting that if Biden choses not to run it may "provide an advantage to Vice President Harris — and could foreclose options for other Democrats."
