Biden Still Vulnerable On Economy

US

A new survey from Emerson College has found, "Seventy-five percent of voters think the cost of living in the United States is rising," suggesting that President Biden is still vulnerable despite strong job growth, wages, and consumer spending.

  • Emerson notes: "The economy is the top issue for 36% of voters, followed by immigration at 21%, threats to democracy at 10%, healthcare at 9%, abortion access at 7%, and crime at 6%."
  • A Reuters survey released yesterday found 41% of respondents said Trump has the better approach to the economy, compared to 34% who picked Biden.
  • The Washington Post reports that Biden's troubles on the economy could get worse: "The booming economy is exacerbating a key vulnerability for President Biden heading into the height of campaign season, as inflation and interest rates could remain higher until deep into the final weeks of the presidential election."
